Home remedies or home-made products are often cheaper and more effective
Although it is very important for the dog’s health, we neglect to brush too often. Without this care, however, bacteria can accumulate in the mouth, causing infections and causing more damage. You want to know how you can make dog toothpaste yourself? Here we tell you!
Too often, the products available in stores, designed for dogs are overpriced and not very effective. For this reason, it is often better to switch to home remedies or home-made products. We will now show you how to make a dog toothpaste at home yourself.
Making dog toothpaste is a lot easier than you think!
There are many ways to make toothpaste yourself and all are very effective in fighting bacteria and tartar. Here are some recommendations for you:
Soda for the perfect oral hygiene of your dog
Soda has long been recognized as an effective oral hygiene product in humans and can be safely used on our pets. Here’s a recipe for an effective, homemade dog toothpaste for you.
- 1/2 teaspoon of soda
- 1 teaspoon of water or chicken broth (for a better taste)
- Some coconut oil
- Some cinnamon (ensures a good breath)
- Two drops of colloidal silver to kill bacteria
Mix all ingredients and keep the mixture in a glass container in the refrigerator. Cool storage is especially important if you have used chicken broth in the preparation. Dip your dog’s toothbrush into the dog toothpaste and carefully brush your dog’s teeth with it.
All ingredients fulfill a specific function. No doubt this recipe is a particularly effective dog toothpaste that you can easily make yourself.
Pure colloidal silver
Colloidal silver is known for its antibacterial effect. It has long proven to be very effective and is therefore perfect as a homemade toothpaste for our four-legged friends. All you have to do is put a few drops of colloidal silver on a toothbrush and brush your dog’s teeth.
To make this dog toothpaste you need mint, soda and coconut oil. Take a glass container and mix two tablespoons of coconut oil, two tablespoons of soda and one drop of mint oil.
If you do not find mint oil, you can also mix a few mint leaves with the remaining ingredients and leave to infuse overnight to add some flavor to the mix.
Store the dog toothpaste overnight in the refrigerator so that the taste and ingredients of the mint can fully develop. Then you can brush your dog’s teeth with this effective blend. However, you should use up this paste within five days.
As a great side effect, the mint prevents the bad breath in the dog. The oil serves as an “adhesive” between the different ingredients and ensures that everything is mixed well. In addition, it is an excellent caries fighter.
Lemon and yeast
Another easy recipe for dog toothpaste! With a bit of yeast, grated lemon zest and some salt you can easily mix a very effective dog toothpaste.
Put all ingredients in a sealable container made of glass or in a cocktail shaker and shake everything until a uniform paste is formed. To keep the toothpaste from spoiling so quickly and to prevent the yeast starting to ferment, it’s best to keep it in the fridge.
The lemon not only prevents bad breath, it also brightens the teeth. The salt in this mixture helps with small puffiness and wounds, while the yeast acts against bacteria and prevents tartar.
We hope these recipes help you maintain your dog’s oral health. Do not forget to brush your four-legged friend’s teeth at least two to three times a week. The rest is done by the natural products that you can buy everywhere.
